Every church exists and thrives with the support of its congregation, its friends and community. The Minster is no exception. We aim to improve the lives of everyone on the Isle of Wight, but can only do so with your help.
Donate to the regular work of the Minster
The daily work of the Minster provides a vibrant programme of worship, daily prayer, a coffee shop for visitors, a listening ear for those in need, and outreach to our schools, uniformed organisations and community groups. It provides a focus for our Civic life and celebrates significant occasions in the life of the Island. It acts as a venue of historic interest bringing visitors from all parts of the country as well as many from overseas. On our own we struggle to meet the financial pressures of simply running the building. Your donation would significantly help our annual need of raising £85,000.
Become a Friend
The Friends of Newport Minster raise funds to meet the cost of The Project, and further PCC funds as and when requested. At the moment, the priority is to ensure The Project succeeds.
Friends pay a small annual subscription and benefit from:
- Specially arranged social and cultural outings
- An annual Newsletter
- Invitation to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Friends
- Regular updates on The Project
- Early access to ticketed Events and Screenings
- Previews of Exhibitions
The Renewal Project
With the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we have an opportunity to restore the church’s historic structure and contents, and reorder the internal space. A new floor and lighting, improved accessibility and visitor facilities, and conservation of the Minster’s heritage treasures such as the Horsey Monument and the Princess Elizabeth Memorial will create a venue fit for all events – from community meetings and school visits to concerts, exhibitions and plays.
